DOGS THAT NEED HOMES!!!

7/13/08 - Zachary (Zac) - Lab/Shepherd mix

Zac is the perfect mild mannered 10 month old boy!  He came from Arkansas when he was quite young and he has been in foster care his WHOLE LIFE!  He is a VERY good boy with a great tempermant.  He is leary of new people and does take time to get to know them, but after 30 min or so, watch out.... You can't get him away from you!
Zac is being fostered for a rescue group called Puppy Porch out of St. Paul, MN.  His adoption fee is $250.

7/20/08 - Rocky - Smooth Coat Border Collie

Rocky is the COOLEST dog ever!  He LOVES everyone!  No kidding.  Dives into their laps!  He's polite about it though... he waits until you sit on the ground until he does it.  He is 12 months old and NEEDS a great home.

He is being fostered for a rescue group called Puppy Porch out of St. Paul, MN and his adoption fee is $250.  Rocky traveled all the way from Southern California to find a great home.  Lets not let him down!

DOGS THAT HAVE BEEN ADOPTED!

6/20/08 Gambit & Jasper - Border Collie/Jack Russel Terrier mix                                                                                                                     ADOPTED!!!!

Hello!  We are Jasper (on the left and in the back) and Gambit (right and in front)!  We are 15 weeks old - born around March 6th, 2008.  Our foster mom says we are really good little guys with great potential!  We are really smart and love to learn! We are learning all of our basic commands and working on potty training.  We walk well on leash and love to play!

Because we are litter mates and we've been so close, we need to be adopted together.  It actually would be easier to adopt us together so we keep each other busy and play together.
Our foster mom was surprised that we are not crazy hyper because of our breeds.  We are energetic, but no more than a regular puppy.

If you could open your hearts and home to us, we would love to come live with you!  We do well with cats and kids!
We are being fostered for Puppy Porch rescue. (www.puppyporch.com)

Update 7/20/08: Jasper and Gambit have been adopted by Terri and Jon and now reside in Milwaukee, WI.  They have a fantastic life and love playing together!  Congrats Terri and Jon!

5/01/08
Kohar - White German Shepherd               ADOPTED!!!!!

Kohar is a VERY sad little boy!  He needs a VERY SPECIAL home who will give him a LOT of Love, Patience and Safety!  His name meas "Jewel" and he is a jewel!

Kohar was in a high-kill (that means they get euthanized quickly) shelter in Alabama.  Laura saw him on petfinder and knew she had to take him or he would not get adopted.  He was beaten badly by his owner and he was in many, many dog fights which is why his face is scarred up and his ears are floppy.

He is an absolute sweetheart once you get to know him!  He LOVES to go for walks and play with other dogs.  He is only about 33 lbs and is 1 yr old.  He will not get any bigger - he's so small partially because they breed them smaller in the south and partly because he has stunted growth from malnutrition.  Kohar gets along well with cats, dogs and children as long as they don't scare him from behind.

It's taken a few weeks in his foster home, but Kohar is doing great now.  He comes willingly to both Laura and Phillip and he is not nearly as scared as he was when he came.  He is now starting to enjoy being pet and touched.

If you have any questions about this wonderful little guy - please contact Laura at (920) 265-0288 or email her at animalnutzo@yahoo.com.

Kohar is being fostered for White Paws German Shepherd Rescue.

Update 7/20/08:  Kohar has a new Chocolate Lab brother named Musky, two human boys and a new mom and dad in Marathon, WI!  He loves his new family and has adapted very well!  Thanks so much to Denise and her family for opening their hearts and taking this special little boy in!

2/23/08  Rosie - Catahoula Lepord Dog                             Adopted!!!!

Rosie is a pure bred Catahoula Lepord Dog - a herding breed from the south.  Mainly bred for herding cattle and are found in large numbers in Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, etc.

Rosie is THE SWEETESTE dog you have ever met!!!!!!!!  She only wants to please...  She was in a shelter in Fort Davis, TX for 8 MONTHS!!!!  Laura can NOT understand why no one would want this sweet, sweet girl with an easy going personality!  Rosie is 4 years old and a pure bread Catahoula.  If your are interested in Rosie, contact Janeen Jackson at jj4@midrivers.com or visit www.CatahoulaRescue.com to fill out an application.

Right now, Rosie lives with 5 adult dogs and one 9 week old puppy and cats.  She does FANTASTIC with everyone.  Very obedient and really likes to be right by her foster mom all the time.  That is probably because of the life she has had thus far.  Rosie likes to play ball and really likes to run around her fenced back yard.   Her foster mom Laura brought her to Rover's Resort for day care and Rosie HAD A BLAST!!!!   We couldn't get her to stop playing and running in all the snow!

A good owner for her would have a fenced yard and would give her plenty of love and attention!  She also does super well in her crate at night and when her foster parents are gone.    PLEASE GIVE ROSIE A CHANCE FOR LOVING!!!!!

UPDATE 4/8/08:  Rosie has a wonderful home with Onyx!!!  Steve opened up his home and took in Rosie too!  Both dogs are doing fantastic with his two kids and are enjoying their new life!

2/23/08  Onyx - Catahoula Lepord Dog/Black Lab mix         ADOPTED!!!

HI THERE!!!  MY NAME IS ONYX!!  I am THE SWEETEST boy you will EVER MEET!!!  My foster mom says I am the most laid back dog she has ever seen (and she has seen a LOT of dogs!).  I don't mind if you stick your hand in my food or if you need to trim my nails or if you have kids - I am REALLY GOOD WITH KIDS!!!!!  I did ok for my bath, but I really didn't like it very much!  I came from a shelter in Indianapolis, IN and was a stray.   They think I'm right around 2 yrs of age.

I am now in a super nice foster home with lots of dogs and cats too!  I am GREAT with all of the animals.  My foster mom says though that I should not be quite so interested in the cats. I'm not mean to them, I just kind of like to chase them.... Oopse. Sorry!

I have a very low-shed coat and I barely make any noise at all.  What can I say - I'm a good kid!  I'm about I went to day care with my foster mom and had a BLAST!!!  It was so much fun to run in a nice big fenced in area.
If you are interested in adopting me, please be sure you have a fenced in yard (no electric fences please) and that you will have time to love me!  You can contact Julia Lane at her email or go to www.CatahoulaRescue.com

UPDATE 4/8/08: Congrats to Steven Clope in Racine, WI and his kids who got to take this special dog home.  They all have a special place in their foster mom's heart - but his one really stole it all the way!  He will be missed!

1/20/08  Legolis - White German Shepherd                   Adopted!!!!

This handsome 9 month old White German Shepherd is as sweet as they come!  He is SOOOOO easy going and LOVES to be pet.  He is laid back and would do really well in just about any home!  He lived with an elderly couple who could not afford to keep him.  He bonds quite quickly (with men and women) and won't leave your side. Super social with ALL dogs.  He goes to work (Rover's Resort daycare) with his foster mom and has a blast playing.  He is crate trained and in fact - LOVES his crate so much that we got a second one and put it in the living room so he could be in one while we were downstairs.  He loves it!   Travels really well too.  Can you adopted Legolis so he can bond with you???  If interested, contact www.WhitePawsGSR.com and fill out an application.

Update: 2/06/08 Legolis has been doing EXCELLENT with his general Obedience!  He responds very well to "Sit", "Down", "Stand", "Stay", "Leave It" and more!  He also has been trained to walk with a Gentle Leader Head Collar which his adoptive family is STRONGLY urged to continue with as he has a very high pull instinct when it is just his collar.  He sticks real close by while off leash and is very good at his "Come" command!

Legolis' had some minor hip issues upon arriving in foster care, he fell on ice and was never examined until the rescue got him.  With time, exercise and a weeks worth of pain medication, he is good as new.  He has VERY MILD hip displaysia that has been examined by the vet.  He is on Glycoflex for those joint and is doing fantastic!  He has a clean bill of health!!!

2/25/08   Legolis is now named Yukon and has an awesome home in Milwaukee with another Shepherd!!!!  He is doing fantastic and we couldn't have asked for a better fit!

11/07 Monte' - White German Shepherd                                 Adopted!!!!

Monte' is a 1 1/2 yr old White German Shepherd with a VERY SPUNKY personality!  He MUST have another dog in his home to play with!!!  He is very sweet and loving.  Needs a LOT of attention (hence having another dog).  Learns very quickly and sticks around off leash real close to owner.  Knows LOTS of basic obedience commands and is VERY well socialized as he goes to doggy day care with foster mom Laura.

Update: 12/30/07:  Monte' was transfered to a new foster home near Beloit, WI.  The only reason he couldn't say with Laura's family was because one of her dogs was not a fan of his energy and it was causing too much tension.  He is doing great with the other foster dogs and runs on 2 acres of land every day!
If you are interested in Monte', he still needs a home.  Email Nancy DeMoulin at CALSPENCE@aol.com for more info.  Thank you!

2/25/08  Congrats to Amber in Appleton!!  Monte is in a wonderful home with a very dedicated owner!!!

1/20/08   Sam - Border Collie                                                    Adopted!!!

This adorable 7 month old Border Collie needs a home where he will be able to work animals or be used in agility or flyball.  He has a VERY strong herding instinct and he really wants to work or focus on something productive.  Laura's cats are none too thrilled about his love of working!  He is VERY SMART and learns quickly.  He needs patience and someone who understands this breed to the fullest!  What a sweetie! Very social with ALL dogs and a cuddle bug when he gets the exercise he needs.
If interested in adopting Sam, contact www.FurryBottomsRescue.org and fill out an application.

2/2/08 - Sam went to a wonderful family in Menomonee Falls, WI where he will be taking part in the sport of Flyball!  Thanks so much Chris and Jeff Lodl and their three dogs and three kids for adopting Sam!!!
